Our new PhET-iO simulations enable education solution providers to easily and quickly transform their STEM products into more engaging and interactive learning experiences.
PhET-iO simulations are enhanced with a powerful set of interoperability features that enable our partners to flexibly customize and fully integrate the simulations into an array of product types, and then capture data on student interaction to assess student achievement, power personalized or adaptive-learning engines, or create teacher reports.
VIRTUAL LABORATORY
Create an integrated, virtual lab experience, where students collect, organize, and interpret data from the sim. Go beyond the traditional by allowing students to save sim screenshots and states as evidence to support their investigation and explanation. Capture students’ every interaction with the sim to assess their science practices, as well as their final response.
ONLINE HOMEWORK
Build innovative homework items, where students engage in STEM practices as well as content. Customize the sim to create an unknown, requiring application of knowledge and systematic investigation to determine. Ask students to collect and interpret evidence to test a hypothesis. Have students construct and submit a solution using the sim. Assess student STEM practices by logging every interaction.
ASSESSMENT
Enhance traditional assessment items or create new forms of assessment, measuring student STEM practices as well as content knowledge. Challenge students to construct a response using the sim. Design performance tasks where students plan investigations, collect data, and analyze and interpret evidence. Capture student interactions to power learning analytics engines.
eTEXTBOOK
Engage students with interactive sims embedded in the text. Use the sim customization features to hide controls, rename text fields, or set initial parameters to align with the discussion in the text. Detect or record student interaction with the sim to know if and how they use the resource.
